Did you know that mountain bikes first started out as a tool?
Before mountain biking became a popular recreational sport, bikes built for rough terrain were mainly used for practical transportation. One of the earliest recorded uses was by the Buffalo Soldiers in the 1890s, who rode from Montana to Yellowstone across rugged landscapes. These early bicycles looked and performed very differently from today’s mountain bikes—they lacked modern features like advanced gearing, suspension, and efficient braking systems, and they were much heavier and slower. Still, they proved to be reliable tools for the journey.
These days, we’re having a blast riding our mountain bikes through the forests around Stockholm. We're lucky to have this outdoor playground just steps from our base, conveniently located south of the city—only 10 minutes by metro from the downtown area. Come ride with us and experience a real MTB adventure! 🚵
