Bike Safari Through Nacka Nature Reserve
We ride along gravel paths and forest roads, moving through varied terrain within the reserve. The route allows us to cover ground efficiently while remaining connected to the surroundings, with regular stops to observe, interpret, and explore.
Throughout the tour, we pass through areas where wildlife is commonly present. We look for movement, tracks, and signs of activity, taking time to understand how animals use the landscape. Along the way, we also pay attention to more subtle traces — signs that reveal the presence of animals that are not always seen.
The reserve is known for its strong population of fallow deer, and sightings are very frequent. Groups are often seen grazing in open areas or moving along the edges of the forest. It is also common to encounter herds of males, their antlers strikingly large compared to their bodies — a distinctive and memorable sight.

Yes, in warmer months there is time and opportunity to swim at the beach stop.
Baltic Coast Stop and Beach Dinner
As the route unfolds, the forest gradually gives way to the Baltic Sea. The landscape opens up, and we reach a quiet, natural beach along the coastline.
Here, we take a break to enjoy a cold dinner by the water, with open views over the Baltic Sea and the surrounding shoreline. It’s a moment to pause, reset, and take in the setting after moving through the reserve.
The Baltic coastline here offers a different perspective of Stockholm’s nature, similar to what we explore on our Kayak Tours in the Stockholm Archipelago.
In warmer months, there is the possibility to swim, so bringing swimwear is recommended.
Deer and Wildlife in Nacka Nature Reserve
Nacka Nature Reserve is a wildlife-rich area just outside Stockholm, with a mix of forest, open ground, and coastal zones that support a variety of species.
Fallow deer are the most commonly observed animals on this tour. They are often seen in groups across open areas or along forest edges, sometimes in large numbers. It is also common to encounter herds of males, their antlers unusually large compared to their bodies — a distinctive and memorable sight.
In addition to fallow deer, the area is home to:
Roe deer
Fox
Wild boar (or signs such as tracks)
A variety of bird species depending on the season
The reserve is also part of a wider ecosystem where moose are present, although encounters remain rare. Tracks or subtle signs can sometimes be found, hinting at the larger wildlife that moves through these landscapes.
Wildlife is present throughout the reserve, but sightings always depend on natural conditions.
For those specifically looking to increase their chances of seeing moose, we recommend our Wildlife Safari Tour.
