Lapland Winter Survival Course | Bushcraft in Sweden | INTRODUCTION

Experience true arctic survival training in Sweden. Build snow shelters, master bushcraft, and live Sámi wilderness traditions in Jämtland.

Survival situations often come without warning. You could get lost in the forest, be caught in a blizzard in the Swedish Lapland, be trapped in an avalanche while skiing, or even face an emergency like a helicopter crash. In such moments, only knowledge and practice will keep you alive.

That’s why we created this winter survival course in Sweden, set in the snowy wilderness of Jämtland, south of the Lapland region. Over six days, you’ll practice real arctic survival training—from building fires in deep snow to constructing shelters, dog sledging, ice fishing, and learning Sámi wilderness skills that have been passed down for centuries.

This is more than theory: you’ll gain confidence in your ability to act and survive in extreme cold-weather conditions. Whether you’re passionate about bushcraft in Sweden or simply want to test yourself against nature, this course gives you the tools, techniques, and mindset to handle unexpected survival situations.

Please send us a request—we’d love to help you prepare for this unforgettable adventure.

6 days in Lapland’s wild north: A survival course in Sweden like no other

We’ll bring you north to Jämtland—deep in the wilderness, among northern Europe’s vast forests and mountain terrain.

It’s essential to experience life like the Sámi people, the native inhabitants of northern Scandinavia. For thousands of years, they have thrived here, so we follow in their footsteps—dog sledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, just like them. This is a true Sámi wilderness experience, an immersion in traditional skills that kept them alive for centuries.

You’ll live a primitive wilderness lifestyle and sleep in a goahti to warm up after long days in the snow. Goahtis are traditional Sámi dwellings—rarely seen today except in museums—but we’ve cracked the code, rebuilt them using ancestral know-how, and invite you to experience this authentic way of life. Sleeping in a goahti is part of learning winter bushcraft Sweden, far beyond a tourist experience.

During this arctic survival training in Sweden, you will learn to:

  • Start a fire in the snow using different techniques.

  • Build your own quinzee (a snow shelter similar to an igloo).

  • Practice ice fishing in frozen lakes.

  • Rescue yourself if you fall through the ice.

  • “Read” snow and ice conditions safely.

  • Craft traps for winter-active animals (no hunting involved).

  • Navigate snowy mountainous landscapes.

We will also provide fresh reindeer so you’ll learn to skin and butcher it, and discover how every single bone can be used for something. This unique reindeer butchering experience in Sweden shows how nothing goes to waste in nature—absolutely fascinating skills to learn.

Every day, you’ll build more confidence in using what nature provides—you just need to learn how to recognise it and how to use it.
